Banking Rewards (Visa)

In a previous post, I mentioned a rewards program for SunTrust customers. Since I also bank at another institution, I Googled that bank’s name and the phrase “Visa rewards program.”  Sure enough, they have a rewards program, too.  A friend of mine mentioned she wished her bank would do something like that.  We Googled the name of her bank and the phrase “Visa rewards program” and, well, you see where I’m going with this.

If you have a Visa credit or debit card through a bank, chances are, your cards are eligible for a points program (points can be used for rewards, gift certificates or cash back amounts).  Points are only awarded on signature-based or web-based purchases (PIN transactions or cash withdrawals are not eligible).  The point to percentage ratio is low, but you’re earning points using a card you’d use (for no points) anyway.  Think about it:  Earn rewards for buying groceries, going through the drive-thru, or just paying your phone bill.  Points and prize catalogs (what you can earn) are available online (check your bank’s website).  Don’t want to sign up online?  Your bank can assist you in person or over the phone.
